The contiguous development of Shenzhou Peninsula has become the driving force that promotes the rapid development of the city's tourism industry. Wanning also enjoys various reputations like "the vegetable kingdom," "the hometown of southern medicine," "gourmet capital", etc.

As the famous "First Mountain of Hainan province", Dongshan Ridge is located about 1.5 kilometers east to Wanning City. It is 184 meters above the sea, known for "eight views of Dongshan Ridge", "fairy mountain of Buddha", and "Cliffside caving". It is the oldest Buddhist shrine place in Hainan, and a State AAA-class tourist attraction.

The Ridge has beautiful natural sceneries, mysterious and unpredictable caves, winding valley and spring, and unique human landscape. The tourism and cuisine of Dongshan Ridge is well known in China. Dongshan goat, Hele mud crab, Houan Mugil cephalus, Dongshan pancake, and Dongshan Partridge tea are praised as "the five unique features of Dongshan ".

Located 30km away from Xinmei Town, southwest of Wanning City, the crescent-shaped Shimei bay is famous for its white sand beach of 7 kilometers long. And the water depth at the seashore is less than 2 meters within 100 meters. On the opposite of the seashore lies the Jiajing Island which has a plane ground of 20 mu (about 13330m2).

Shimei Bay pertains to tropical monsoon climate, with a long summer and no winter, and the annual average temperature is 19-24℃, with bright sunshine throughout the year. Built in 1957, Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden is located in the Xinglong Hot Spring Resort. It is one of the earliest tropical botanical garden open to the public in Hainan Province. Covering an area of 600 mu (400,000m2), the Garden gives tourists a panorama view of more than 1,200 kinds of tropical plants and trees, including commercial tropical crops like coffee, pepper, vanilla, Cocoa, etc., famous rare fruit trees like jackfruit, mangosteen, and wild plants like upas tree, and other rare species. 

Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden is nearly perfect for plants to grow; now it has become a famous tourism resort. It really deserves the name of "tropical plants encyclopedia". It is o¬ne of the most popular tourist attractions o¬n Hainan Island.
