Baoting

Located in the south side of Wu Zhi Mountain which is situated in the south inland of HaiNan, Baoting Li-Miao People Autonomous County is blessed with picturesque scene with lush mountains and clean waters. It has an area of 1160.6 square kilometers and a population of 160,000, of which Li-people makes up for 56.2%, Miao-people 3.8% and other ethnics 40%. Its jurisdiction includes 3 villages, 6 towns, 5 state-owned farms and 1 research institute of tropical plants. From this county, it goes eastward about 45 kilometers to reach the eastern circum-island highway, and it is 76 kilometers from Sanya, an internationally-famous city in the south as well as about 39 kilometers from the city of WuZhishan mountain, a mountain city in the north. Within this county, the highway available in the villages and towns numbers 118. There is prolonging summer without winter in Baoting County, in which sunshine, coconut forest, the Pinang and numerous tropical fruit plantations form a charming and diverse landscape of south China. The fertile land, abundant rainfall and sunshine, humid climate, rich natural resources, in particular the primitive forest, hot spring, Jane rambutan fruit, clay forest, odd-shaped peak, natural cave and intensive flavor& customs of ethnics make it enjoy the praise from people home and abroad.

Baoting County is rich in tourism resources. Qixian Peak is a famous tourism resort for its hot spring. At the foot of the peak, there are 7 hot spring holes with daily outflow of 3,800 cubic meters and highest temperature of 95 degree. According to the test by the state department concerned, the water contains many kinds of trace elements and can be classified as Metasilicate Sodium Bicarbonate-type hot spring water. Therefore it is of great healthcare and beautifying value. Among the caves that have been discovered, Xianlong Cave is the largest in Hainan with a full length of 400 meters, feathering cave in cave and mountain in cave. XianAn Shi belongs to tropical Karst topograph with an area of over 500 mu. In the forest lays the queer rocks in different posters making for an majestic scene. In addition, in Baoting county, Maola dong reservoir, Maozhen lake, Pan’e lake Longtan waterfall, Ganshi peak and ethnic customs and culture have substantial value in development of tourism.

Baoting county abounds in natural resources. All over the county flow many rivers which boasts hydraulic of more than kilowatt 90,000, of which the taped is kilowatt8,580, accounting for 24％。 The forest area amounts to 36,000 mu and all is tropical forest with variety of more than 1,400. The precious wood includes Home health, sub-Jing, Hopea, pear, green-nam, Hong Luo, Kaboku etc. Baoting County is an important planting base of Southern Medicine 148 kinds such as Sinensis, reduce incense, Rauvolfia, large blood rattan, amomum, covering an area of over 70,000.Besides the tropical fruit such as coconut, mango and rambutan, Baoting County has an planting area of 380,000 for rubber yielding 15,000 ton annually. There are 11 kinds of mineral resources that have been discovered, including iron, sands, crystal, limestone, marble. Of the mineral resources, those which prove to be exploration include iron ore, limestone, marble and crystalline limestone.

 In the past ten years since the establishment of Special Zone, Baoting County has scored considerable progress in social and economic development. By the end of the year 2001, many key infrastructure projects including water conservancy, power grid and roads had been completed through the fixed investment of 1.1billion RMB. The 110,000 volts of substation was docked with the provincial power grid and there are 3,000 program control telephones with direct dialing available to other parts of China and foreign countries. The Baoting County has formulated the tenth “five year” plan and the 2010 prospect design and put forward the 6369 development plans incorporating six great development strategy ,and the there basic projects, there line, three regions and the construction of nine production bade. All these have drawn the blueprint for the future of Baoting County. Recently, Baoting county has launched the project of the rare fruit Rambutan, which is the largest production base of Rambutan up to the present all over China. QiXian Peak Hot Spring Tourism Development Area is a state－level hot spring forest park and is also an important tourism development area in HaiNan. Five holiday-making villages including QiXian hot spring Kangle center, Qi Xian hot spring holiday-making village, QiXian hot spring villa and so on have been completed through the investment from Japan, HongKong, Shanghai, other countries and regions. A tourism resort integrating strange peaks, tropical forest hot spring and ethnic customs and culture will be built here.

Wanning Xinglong

Xinglong is a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese. Over the past 6 decades, Xinglong has witnessed the great integration of its local culture and those brought by overseas compatriots Gradually came "Xinglong Culture".

Coffee and tea are very two economic crops in Xing Long. Although the locally grown coffee is not well-known internationally, many travelers to the area still compare the coffee to the fine coffees of Brazil and Columbia. The most famous teas are Bitter Tea, Rice Tea and Vanilla Tea. The best place to buy them is in Xinglong Tropical Garden.

Xian’an Stone Forest

Maogan Xian’an Stone Forest is located at Xian’an Ridge, west of Baoting County, adjacent to Sanya City. The stone forest is of tropic karst appearance, covering an area of 0.39 km2, with altitude of 700 meters. The grikes are usually 5~10 meters deep and the deepest grike is 25 meters. There are more than 100 large clints and hundreds of small clints. Xian’an Stone Forest is the exquisite masterpiece of the nature.

Xinglong Tropical Botanic Garden

Xinglong Tropical Botanic Garden is one place that can't be missed in Xinglong Hainan Island which is the biggest Tropical Botanic Garden covers around 340,000 sq. meters. It is not only a famous tourism place, but also the biggest tropical agriculture and flavor research institute of China. It really deserves the name of "tropical plant encyclopedia"with more than 1,200 kinds of plans growing inside. To name some, there are antiar tree, eucalypt, teak, spindle tree fir, bread tree, cocoa tree, pepper plants and vanilla etc. There is a big supermarket with products by Xinglong Tropica Botanical Garden at reasonable prices.

There is no public transportations to reach Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden, you have to take tuktuk from Xinglong town at around CNY10/way, and walking distance is around 3KM from Xinglong Town Center. Admission fee is CNY65/person.

Xinglong National Green Road

Xinglong National Green Road is one of the important sites in Wanning City. It was built at the end of 2012. It connects the original scenic spots such as Xinglong Tropical Garden, Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden, but also the exotic overseas Chinese villages.
