Chengmai

Chengmai County is located in the northeast of Hainan Island, adjoining to Haikou, the provincial capital.

It was founded in the first Yuanfeng year of the Western Han Dynasty (110 BC), over 2100 years ago.

Chengmai was named after the first characters of Chengiang River, in the west of the county, and Maishan Mountain, in the east.

Chengmai is China's first longevity county certified by the United Nations. The amount of negative ions per cubic centimeter in the air is 1100/m3 on average, reaching Grade A. The soil there contains basalts, making water in wells mineral water that is free from contamination and contains trace elements human body needs, like selenium. A true Oxygen bar and rich-selenium land it is!

Mangrove Wetland Park

Hainan Mangrove Wetland Park is located at Fuli •Hongshu Bay, Chengmai County. It is a AAAA grade national level nature reserved developed by Fuli Property. The park covers an area of 2,200 mu (1,466,667 m2) and is a 30 minute drive from downtown of Haikou City.

The park has been designed with seven recreational areas, including a 4.2-km-long timber boardwalk, a mangrove wetland exhibition pavilion, an amusement park, a featured restaurant, Flamingo Island, and other facilities.

Jinshan Temple

Jinshan Temple, surrounded by mountains and lakes, is located in Jinjiang Town, Chengmai County. As one of the largest Buddhist temples in Hainan, it was built in the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty. It was destroyed in the war before liberation and was rebuilt in 1993. Jinshan temple is an archaistic building, built on the mountainside, with a magnificent scale. It consists of the Bell Tower, Linggui Turtle Pond, Gulou Tower, Gongde Monument, Tianwang Palace, the Great Buddha’s Hall, Calligraphy and Painting Gallery, and various Buddha statues. There are 42 gold Buddha statues exquisitely carved in the temple, feasting visitors’ eyes.

Yongqing temple

Yongqing temple, situated in Yingbin Peninsula tourist area of Chengmai County, was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was a famous Buddhist temple in Hainan’s history and has been continuously expanded by past dynasties. The temple has more than 10 rooms, a gate, and three halls, each placing statues of Buddha, Avalokitesvara and other Bodhisattvas. It is a sacred place to local people. So believers often come here to pray. Yongqing Temple was one of the most famous scenic spots in Chengmai in ancient times.

Meilang Twin Pagodas

According to the legend, Meilang Twin Pagodas in the Meiting Village of Chengmai County, which was listed as first-grade cultural relics site under the state protection, was built by Chen Daoxu, a resident of the Song Dynasty, in honor of his two daughters 800 years ago. The pagoda in honor of the older sister is hexagonal with 7 lavers, 13.6 meters high, and the other quadrangular, also with 7 layers, 12.55 meters high. Both pagodas were built with basalt from Qiongbei Volcano, using unique architecture technique of the mortise-and-tenon joint and simple stack of the dressed stones without gluing to each other. And there are dozens of realistic reliefs in the pagodas. All these superb architecture and carving skill make the Twin Pagodas outstanding and stunning among their kind.

Fushan Coffee town

Surrounded by 2,000 acres of coffee plantations, Fushan Coffee serves local Hainan coffee to tourists.

Fushan town is one of the places which first started to grow coffee in Hainan, and also the origin of the well-known "Fushan Coffee". In 1935, Chen Xianzhang, a returned overseas Chinese, introduced coffee to Fushan from abroad. Now coffee has become a necessity to the residents here. You can seecafes everywhere, with continuous costumers from morning to night. Those in other places of Hainan are used to have tea together, while people in Fushan like to start a day with aromatic Fushan coffee.

That's why Fushan is called "Hometown of Coffee".
